Memorial Day Weekend
Memorial Day Weekend was kind of stressful. I had two hard tests, I had to finish a book club book, and I was so sick that 4 nights last week I was asleep before 9 pm. Since then, I've finished my book, I got one test back (and I got an A!!!;-))..but I am still super sick. I sound like a man. HOWEVER, the best part about Memorial Day weekend is that Babsies came to town!! Having friends visit is always a treat but having Babs visit is the best. I love hanging out with her and no matter what, we always have a good time. Although I was super sick Saturday night and definitely a "fun killer", we made up for it the rest of the weekend. I would say that my favorite day was actually Monday. We started off the day hitting up this new raw food restaurant, apparently all my friends are "foodies" now, then we hitched up our bikes, drove to Salt Lake, parked, and rode our bikes around SLC all day. We had fun goofing off, chit chatting and just enjoying each others company. After SLC everyone met up for dinner, one last hurrah for Babs before all of the girls dropped her off at the airport. Luckily, I didn't cry this time when Babsies left. Out of all my friends, I still tear up like a baby whenever Babs or Janelle leave. I don't know what it is.
Mixtape Monday
I don't have any brand new songs but I am loving my Adele cd and this is my new obsession.

2 Festivals, 1 Day
Brings me back to Jersey
This weekend there were two festivals in SLC. One was called the Urban Art by The Gateway Mall and the other was the Cultural Festival on the steps of the SLC Courthouse and its lawns. Both festivals were super fun and I was grateful that the weather was nice enough to just hang out and walk around. I didn't take any pictures at the urban arts fair because it was too dark but it didn't matter because I liked the cultural festival better anyway. My favorite parts of the festival were the Brazilian/Capoeira dancers and the decorated eggs. They were beautiful! I almost considered signing up for the introductory class but for 25 dollars I'll just practice at home!

Mixtape Monday
I know I'm probably the only one who cares about sharing music every Monday but oh well. I get excited to let you fools know what I'm listening to. And if these songs come on the radio you can know that I'm jamming out to them!

Now he's found
Everyone is so used to seeing Handro, Drea, and I together so often that I think they forget we are only the oldest three of a family of eight. Sometimes I find myself explaining to people that there is actually one more brother in our "generation" and that one day soon he'd move to UT to be with us. Well... it's official ladies and gentleman. Felipe will be landing in UT on June 20th and he starts school at UVU in the fall with the rest of us!!! Utah will never be the same again. I am so excited! Felipe is hilarious,he's super fun to hang out with, and he's an all around great kid. I love my family and the more of us that can be pooled in one place, the better.

Missing my family
Everyone in my family is getting together in FL next weekend except for Handro and I. That means we're missing out on all the fn and the hot hot sun since the weather is averaging in the 90's. This means that Handro and I have been watching tons of video clips of Mia because we miss her so much. I thought I'd share the best one. Turns out Mia doesn't do much "snacking". In my family we are either eating whole meals or we aren't really eating. Pay close attention to her favorite foods!

Even Gaga needs pep talks
Pepsi
I am a Pepsi addict. It's always the first thing I want to drink in the morning and the last thing I drink at night. I know that recently I've gained a couple LBS and I know that it has a lot to do with my Pepsi but damn, I love it. I only share this with you guys because today I even surprised myself. I did the math and realized that if I bought two cans of Pepsi instead of the plastic bottle I'd end up with 4 more ounces for the same price. So now whenever I'm feeling a little thirsty I can still buy Pepsi and feel like I'm practicing conservativeness and thriftiness. And yes, I figured it all out at the bookstore I ran to during my break because I was having Pepsi withdrawals because obviously I don't do caffeine free. Hit me straight up!

Alcatraz Island
One thing I love to do is random touristy crap that locals of the places I visit usually shun. I love to go to the museums, see the statues, read the plaques that no one reads and visit some of the most random things. I mean, one of my favorite tours of all time is the US Treasury Dept. It's harder to get in there than the White House.Anyway, so while I was in CA I just had to go to Alcatraz.
I'm finally caught up on all my old posts. Sorry it's taken me so long.

Kristina's Wedding
Kristina got married almost a week ago! Crazy. I flew to CA to be able to celebrate her special day with her. It was fun because it turned out to be a CA trip that we all enjoyed. I know she felt special that everyone made an effort to be there. All the guys looked handsome and all the girls looked pretty. I wish I could post every cute picture we all took but blogger only lets you post 5 at a time.

The Daughter of Jairus
I went to FHE for the first time in about a year and a half. I just so happened to be standing by my door when my friend Annaliese walked by and told me they were going to the Carl Bloch exhibit at BYU. Literally, 8 minutes later I was on BYU campus walking into the museum. I cannot explain how good I felt about life walking around that exhibit. I felt the spirit there so strong. I ended up wishing that I had my journal with me so that I could have walked around and jotted down a few thoughts as I looked at the artwork. Now, usually I am not the kind of person that is touched by art. It's just not my kind of medium. Music, books, scriptures- those kinds of things work better for me than art. However, I fell in love with one painting. I sat there and stared at it for 20 minutes. I'd walk around and look at other pictures but I always came back to it. Hell, I even started crying a little bit. I loved it so much! The painting was called The Daughter of Jairus and I thought I'd share it with the blog world.
I love this painting because the scene depicted is before the miracle even takes place. You can see it in Jairus' face that she is suffering so much. She's been sitting there taking care of her daughter for a long time and her daughter finally has died. My most favorite part about this painting is Jesus standing at the door. He is about to come and and perform his miracle and comfort Jairus and do all the good things he has promised us. I can't imagine the amount of happiness that Jairus must have felt when she saw her daughter awaken. I have felt happy and I know what happiness is but I can't even imagine the amount of love/happiness/gratefulness one person could feel after something like that happens to them. This painting makes me feel loved and I've decided that when I get my own house and own space I will definitely hang this up somewhere.
