Sleepless in Seattle

Babs and I jetted off to Seattle for the evening yesterday and made it back just in time to go to our relief society training meeting this morning!
Our rented subcompact that we didn't realize was actually 4 doors until the night was over.

Happy Halloween

was she dancing with a sheep or cloud?

coworker..so into their costumes

I almost feel like my eyes were closed!
Halloween was always fun when I was younger but lately it's been Ah-Mah-Zing. I love celebrating with my friends and with my family. I love when we do fall/halloween things. I love being old enough to start some "traditions" of my own. I started my celebration in UT and ended it in PHX. For the third year in a row my friends and I went to see the Thriller Dance show at the University of Utah. It was great as usual. That night we went to the movies and screamed our lungs out at paranormal activity 4 until the end, then it got stupid. This past weekend some friends drove down to help us celebrate thanksgiving. Megan Allen was my first official visitor! I was so grateful to have her here and we had so much fun.

Jet Pull

Every year US Airways puts on a charity event for the United Way which involves employees getting in big teams and competing against each other pulling planes across the tarmac.  I was so excited to be able to participate this year! My team was called " You can't pull this" and we pulled that jet in 6.064 seconds!  I had so much fun seeing all the other teams and all the names that employees came up with. My personal favorite was "pull me maybe".

Big Red came to hang out at the US Airways hangar

Chicken and Waffles

During conference I mentioned to my friends that I didn't understand why people love chicken and waffles. I don't understand and its probably because I don't entirely love waffles. So what did we do this weekend?? We went to LoLo's chicken and waffles on the strength of Ashley's recommendation. After all that I was still not able to bring myself to order a waffle with my chicken but I did love  my rice and beans! I would definitely hit that place up one more time!

Balloon Festival

Last weekend I flew to pick up my roommate Kate from her dental rotation in New Mexico. The plan was to go see the international balloon festival and then drive home either Saturday night or Sunday morning.  Probably one of the bigger disappointments in my life. I get all ready to go see the balloons, we wake up at 4:30 am, we catch the shuttle, we eat the famous breakfast burritos (not that awesome, needs less potatoes and more bacon), and then at 7am, more than two hours after we've been standing in the cold morning air.... IT GETS CANCELLED! Apparently it's not safe for 600 hot air balloons to take off  when it's windy outside. So what did we do? We said peace and drove back to AZ. We were back by 7 pm on a Saturday night. Luckily, I was able to find an amazing donut shop and eat away my feelings on the way home. Sunday was even better because I confiscated Carrie's house while she was in Portland and watched conference with my homies and played just the right amount of croquet in between sessions!
This 4:30am bus ride to the field was the closest I got

All this excitement for nothing

god smiled on me

and then I smiled on my friends

happy conference!

Pandas and Guitars

Two weeks ago Panda Express had a day where they were giving out free cashew chicken...of course my friends and I hit it up that night because.....why wouldn't we. We're all poor students or working our first time job and just beginning to get out of the financial holes we were in ( that applies to me). Anyway, after Panda we all hit up the TCA and went to open mic nights where we enjoyed surprisingly good music and then were awed by Jaxon and JC's performances!  It was a great night.

...otherwise known as the Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship. I am not sure why, but Babs and I let our friends JC and Jaxon convince us to go to a sword fighting class that they found on Craig's List, although super skeptical we gave it our best effort. Turns out the class  was taught in some castle in the middle of Phoenix by two very competent  and intelligent guys that actually teach kids in high schools and clubs around the area. The purpose of their Saturday morning class is to expose more kids to the art of sword fighting. Needless to say, we loved it! Not sure how often we'll be going back but I was so impressed by their knowledge of this sport.  My favorite part was looking all hardcore wielding a sword.
